Today we made a ramp for the sphero to jump up to a metre ours only made it up to 49cm after four attempts and it was pretty cool making the coding for it to zoom up the ramp and...
Not go very far so that is sad but all cool.

How To Find The Area Of A Square/rectangle

 How to find the area of a square/rectangle

All you have to do is multiply the length by the width so here is an example.

6m

12m

A=L X W

12 X 6 = 72 sq metres so all you have to do is times the length by the width and  boom done.

and when you have two boxes together

                             8m

7m2m

            4m

 Area 1: A= lxw

4 X 7= 28 sq metres

  Area 2: A= lxw

 2 X 8= 16 sq metres

Area 1 + Area 2

28 sq m + 16 sq m = 44 sq m total area. I need to remember to add the two areas together.

Maths-Circumference

 Maths

Today in maths we were measuring the circumference of the big circle on the court. I found that it was 50.24 of my feet, and last week I found that four of my feet were 1 metre. Which means it was 12.56 metres

The formula to find the circumference of a circle involves knowing what the diameter is.

C =  pi x Diameter
   = 3.14 x 12.56m
   = 39.43m

I worked it out another way as well.
The way I found it was by

I converted my feet lengths which came to 12.56 metres which became the diameter.

Diameter=12.56
C= 3.14 x 12.56m = 39.43m

My Day

 My Day

 To day our class had to silent read for 15 minuets it took so long for everyone two settle down but I enjoyed my reading but I didn't  get to do my tactic because I didn't have to look for anything. I learnt that the kauri tree is a evergreen tree, now that's cool! Tomorrow I promise to work as hard as I can.

Adrenalin Forest Trip On Wednesday The 12th

 On Wednesday the 12th we went to the Adrenalin Forest, If you don't know what Adrenalin Forest is you climb up trees with challenges  and zip lines its really fun and a cool experience. Caspian, Mailli, Alexa, Giovanni and I went on 5b witch was really high about 25 meters up, the zip lines were so cool and I hated the ladders.

On the final zip line to the end was so far and I got so much speed I was going at least 30km it was so fast it took a while for every one to go onto it. But I had to go down a ladder to get to down to the final witch was not fun because I had to wait on the ladder.

On 3b Pretty much every one did and I was one of the first to finish. It was harder than 5b apart from the ladders man I hatted the ladders they took way to long. I also got stuck for about 5 minuets because one of the clippers got stuck I still got out.

You should try it.

Maths-Volume

 Maths

today in maths we were calculating the volume of cubes. It was pretty cool but I was a bit slow with the answers but I got it in the end.

one of the questions was

1.511m
16m

264

cost of concrete to fill is $4 per cubic metre =

$1056

30% discount=

Mau Rakau and bone carving

Every Wednesday we do mau rakau and bone carving with some of the year 7&8 our teachers are Chris and Kevin . It is a really cool thing to learn and a very good experience.

Some of the moves are whakata, tumatauenga and toropaipai. Some of the moves are complicated and others are easy. One of my friend fainted in the first week it was pretty funny he was all right tho.

In bone carving we are doing some very cool designs and I think that mine looks amazing and that mine is the best of them all. I chose to do a fishing hook as the design again an amazing experience.  Its so fun and it is a really cool looking bone carving.

What I found out about my estimation process?

Estimating up to 100m

I found that I am pretty good at estimating up to 100m and that I was very close to all of them.  I should estimate distances more often.

Estimating up to 5m and 10m.

I found that when I was estimating this I was not that good and I missed 5m by 1m and 10m by 2m. We did the 5m metres and then the 10m, I didn’t do as well on the short distance but I did do well on the long distance.

We were told to use the distance of a football field to measure 100m and that it would make it easier to estimate. I have to imagine how many football fields between me and my object that I am estimating too.
